Community-Led Conservation (CLC) Conference

The Community-Led Conservation (CLC) Conference is a landmark gathering where communities living alongside wildlife lead the conversation on the future of conservation. Hosted by Ewaso Lions and partners, the conference showcases a transformative approach in which local people are not just consulted but are the primary decision-makers, planners, and leaders of conservation efforts.

Drawing on nearly 20 years of experience in Samburu, northern Kenya, and collaborations from across the world, the conference will introduce the emerging CLC framework (supported by the Whitley Fund for Nature) and real-world examples like Warrior Watch and Mama Simba. It will bring together community leaders, conservation practitioners, policymakers, donors, and researchers to explore practical tools, share stories, and co-design pathways for conservation that is more effective, inclusive, and led by the communities who know these landscapes best.

To ensure inclusive participation, conference sessions will be translated in real time into Maa (both Samburu and Maasai), Swahili, Portuguese, and Spanish. Learn More
